New Pokemon Film, Pokemon Coco, Releases First Trailer

Ash, Pikachu, and Coco

What Japanese franchise has seen immense international praise and has received a long running anime adaptation that started in the late 90's still going strong today, with nearly a thousand episodes under its belt? If you said One Piece, then you'd be absolutely right. However, there's another contender for that title, and that is none other than Pokemon.

The franchise has spawned a variety of games, television series, movies, comics and more over the years, and this year is no exception.

On August 5th, the Pokemon Movie Twitter account (yes, there is a dedicated Twitter account just for Pokemon movies) revealed the trailer for a new movie titled Pokemon Coco.

The movie of course features the main protagonist Ash Ketchum, known in Japan as Satoshi, and his main Pokemon and best friend Pikachu on another epic adventure. The movie was originally set to be released in July, but was pushed back due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The trailer features Ash and Pikachu traveling through a jungle, where they run into a mythical Pokemon named Zarude, a peculiar looking monkey type Pokemon, along with his adopted human son, Koko.

The movie is expected to land in Japanese theaters in December, with no official announcement date for a North American release.
